History and surrounding area

Property history:The property is located on Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate, which is approximately 1 km from Hoedspruit in the South African Lowveld. Two minutes leaving the town, you enter through security gates and you are in the African bush with animals wondering freely around luxurious lodges. The estate was originally a wildlife reserve, and the northern section was divided into plots for lodges. You can take a relaxing game drive on your own, or even experience wildlife walking freely amongst the lodges, where you can expect to see game such as Rhino, Buffalo, Giraffe and many species of antelope. The Estate is home to 3 of the Big 5, and is a bird lover’s paradise.
Property surrounding area:Hoedspruit is within South Africa’s Big 5 area, close to Kruger National Park’s Orpen Gate (71km) and Phalaborwa Gate (74km). The Hoedspruit Cheetah Breeding Project (18km), the Mholoholo Rehabilitation Center at Kampersrus (28km), Swadini Snake Park (16km) and Elephant Back Safaris at the nearby Kapama Game Reserve provide varied activities for the international visitor. FURTHER AFIELD The Panorama Route which is easily accessible with sights such as the Three Rondavels, Blyde River Canyon (the third largest canyon in the world), Bourke’s Luck Potholes, God’s Window, World’s view, The Pinnacle, Lisbon Falls, Berlin Falls and the Graskop Gorge all within one and a half hour’s drive from the Estate. The town of Sabie, where one can visit the Mac Mac falls, Mac Mac Pools, Horseshoe Falls, Bridal Veil Falls and Lone Creek Falls, is 173km away with romantic old world Pilgrim’s Rest, one of the first mining towns in the area, merely 150km away from the Estate. The Klaserie Dam where fishing and boating can be undertaken, is a mere 35km from Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate. On the Blydepoort Dam game viewing excursions can be undertaken through registered Tour Operators. For the more adventurous, white river rafting can be undertaken on the Blyde River, in the Canyon or in the Olifants Gorge next to the Abel Erasmus Pass. Canoe trips can be undertaken on the calmer waters of the Blyde River below the Blydepoort Dam and on the Olifants River. A scenic game viewing and sundowner’s boat cruise can be undertaken on the Olifants River close to Phalaborwa. The Drakensig Golf Club, which overlooks the picturesque Drakensberg Mountains, boasts a 9-hole course. The famous Hans Merensky Golf Course is situated at Phalaborwa, which is 75km away. This 18-hole course, where animals have the right of way, is situated on the edge of the Kruger National Park.
Additional information:Existing facilities include the Fanie de Villiers, Kobus Wiese and Allan Donald conference centre for approx 300 delegates, with plans to expand for 1000 delegates (600 in one venue), the Dumbwaiter restaurant, Kalahari Oasis bar and Hotazhel terrace catering for a formal dinner or a casual meal, or facilities to cater for private functions (e.g. wedding receptions, parties etc.) and a large Pick n Pay on site.
